Powell, 91, of East Walnut Street, Palmyra, died Monday, May 26, 2008, in his home. He was the husband of Anna H. (Stellar) Powell, to whom he had been married for 67 years. Born May 22, 1917, in Gordonsville, Virginia, to the late George and Florence (Morris) Powell, he was the youngest of nine children and the last of his immediate family. Retiring in 1979 from the Hershey Chocolate Company with 46 years of service, he was a member of the Palmyra American Legion, and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughters, Charlotte Matrisian of Florida, Arlene Buffington of Harrisburg and Rose Givler of Palmyra; grandchildren Lisa Matrisian and Scott Buffington; and a greatgranddaughter, Kylie Buffington. He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew W. Powell. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2008, at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra, preceded by a viewing from 10 a.m. until time of services. Entombment will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. Memorial contributions may be made to a local hospice organization. Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 5/29/2008.
