Cumberland St., Lebanon, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, in the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born March 12, 1926, in South Lebanon Township, a son of the late Charles F. Pyles Sr. and Christine R. Hilbert Pyles. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was retired from the Hershey Chocolate Factory, and had worked as a custodian for the Cornwall-Lebanon School District. He was a life member of the VFW Post No. 23 and Annville American Legion. He served with the fire police, and was community service officer for the Civil Defense of Lebanon County. Surviving is his wife, Dorothy M. Haag Pyles of Lebanon, to whom he married Aug. 10, 1946; brother Earl Pyles of Lebanon; and sister Mary Pyles of Annville. He was preceded in death by daughter Shirley Ann Pyles on Oct. 22, 1947. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, 2008, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Christman's Funeral Home Inc., 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon, followed by services at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be at New Union Cemetery, Myerstown.
