Rittle, a resident at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home in Palmyra died on March 14, 2008. Mr. Rittle was born on August 6, 1909. He graduated from Myerstown High School in 1927. A former resident of Lebanon, Mr. Rittle worked for many years as a freight conductor on the Reading Railroad. Mr. Rittle was preceded in death by his wife, Minnetta Pieffer Rittle, and their son Ronald. He is survived by his children, Walter E. Rittle of Naperville, Ill.; Jean K. Mosby of Bella Vista, Ark., Robert H. Rittle of Indiana, Pa., the Rev. Esther R. Ziegler of Frederick, Md., and Doris F. Witmer of Palmyra, Pa. He is also succeeded by nine grandchildren, and nine great- grandchildren. Mr. Rittle had a keen interest in the sciences, and maintained a home chemistry laboratory for much of his life. He designed the Pee Wee Golf Game, for which he held a patent. His activities included singing with the Evergreen Barbershop Chorus in Lebanon. A private memorial service will be held by his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations my be sent to the Good Samaritan Fund of Lebanon Valley Brethren Home at 1200 Grubb St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
