Rumpilla, age 89, of Pottstown, Pa., died on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at the home of his son in Fredericksburg, Pa. He was the husband of Margaret (Tuno) Rumpilla, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Born in Luzerne County, he was a son of the late George and Bertha (Huttenstein) Rumpilla. At the age of one month, Donald's mother died, and he was then lovingly raised from that point by his "mom," Anna Rumpilla. Mr. Rumpilla was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. For approximately 30 years, he worked as a tire curer for the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and growing vegetables. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Brian Rumpilla, husband of Katie of Fredericksburg, Pa., Craig Rumpilla of Felton, Del.; three sisters, Marion Dress of Mountaintop, Pa., Betty Harter of Wapwallopen, Pa., and Leona Stemrick of Nescopeck, Pa.; four grandchildren, Lise and David Rumpilla of Porter Ranch, Calif., Rachel Kohr of Hamlin, Pa., Brian A. Rumpilla of Fredericksburg, Pa.; one great- grandson, Allen Kohr of Hamlin, Pa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, George and Harry Rumpilla; and his sisters, Virginia Duffy, Arlene West, Ruth Roushey, Jean Hildenbrand. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2008, and from 11:30-12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home Inc., 955 N. Charlotte Street, Pottstown, Pa. Funeral services will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, being officiated by the Rev. Paul C. Brandt, M.A. M. Div., of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church, Limerick, Pa. Interment will be in Limerick Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Capital Campaign of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church, P.O. Box 229, Limerick, PA 19468.
