"Pat" Ryan, 85, of 1275 Fonderwhite Road, Lebanon, died Monday, May 26, 2008, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Helen R. Kleckner Ryan, to whom he was married 60 years. He was born April 18, 1923, in Bel Air, Md., a son of the late William C. and Anna M. Benser Ryan. Charles graduated from the Old Post High School in Edgewood, Md. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1946. He trained as a cadet, and was honorably discharged as a corporal from the U.S. Army. He was employed by the VA Hospital in Perry Point, Md., in 1946, and transferred to the VA Hospital in Lebanon, where he was employed as a recreation therapist until his retirement in 1985. Upon his retirement, he worked as a salesman for Dietz Jeep/International. He was an active member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a current member of the Elks Club, Friendship Fire Company, and Fredericksburg American Legion Post. He enjoyed hunting, and was a championship baseball player, golfer, and bowler. He was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather, and always demonstrated this by putting his family before all else. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Linda S. Reist and husband Carl of Lebanon and Lisa C. Ruth and husband D. Kraig of Middletown, R.I.; grandchild Lori L. Reist; and greatgrandchild Kera L. Earnhart, both of Lebanon; brothers W. Carroll Ryan of Bel Air, Md., James R. Ryan of Abingdon, Md., and Donald Ryan of Bel Air, Md.; sisters Edna Rigsby of Joppa, Md., and Helen Ryan of Abingdon, Md.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Florence Creswell and Dorothy Cullum. Viewing is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2008, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 53 Chestnut Street, Lebanon, PA 17042, followed by services at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Mt.
