Brown Schneck, 91, of Pine Grove, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, in Schuylkill Medical Center East in Pottsville. Born May 16, 1917, in Summit Station, she was the daughter of the late Levi V. and Cora R. Schneck Brown. Grace was a lifelong resident of Summit Station and Pine Grove, graduating from Pine Grove High School in 1934. She was a member of the Pine Grove High School Association. She had been employed as a receptionist for the late Dr. Albert Fegley. She was a member of St. Mark's (Brown's) Evangelical & Reformed U.C.C. Church, Schuylkill Haven, where she was a former member and secretary of the Consistory, former treasurer, Sunday School teacher, church pianist and member of the willing workers of the church. She had 35 years as a member of Mary E. Moore Chapter #372 O.E.S. in Pine Grove, and a member of the Pine Grove Senior Citizens. Grace will best be remembered for her devotion to the craft of quilt- making and her exceptional baking of the best shoofly pies in Schuylkill County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Schneck, and by two sisters, Florence Webber and Eva Brown, and five brothers, Walter Brown, Heber Brown, Guy Brown, Fred Brown and Roy Brown. Surviving are two sistersin- law, Lillian Brown Berger and Irma Moyer Brown, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as additional generations of their children. Grace will be sadly missed for her devotion to her faith and her appreciation of her family history. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. in the H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Eugene Eckroth officiating. There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. Mark's (Brown's) Cemetery. Contributions may be made to one of the following: St. Mark's (Brown's) Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 37, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972, the Kutztown University of Penna. Alumni Turst fund under the names of Florence, Guy or Roy Brown, or to the charity of your choice in memory of Grace V. Schneck.
