"Betty" Elizabeth "Betty" M. Shaak LEBANON Elizabeth "Betty" M. Shaak, 93, of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra, formerly of Tunnel Hill Road, Lebanon, died Friday, March 7, 2008, at the home. She was the wife of the late Chester W. Shaak, who died February 9, 2004, and with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Born November 28, 1914, in Cleona, she was the daughter of the late Daniel H. and Estella Heilman Margut. She was a 1932 graduate of the former Highspire High School, Highspire, and the Central Penn Business College, Harrisburg. She worked as an executive secretary for over 30 years in the offices of GMAC, Harrisburg; the former Bethlehem Steel Company, Lebanon; Lebanon Valley College, Annville; and retiring in 1979 from the former Lebanon Valley Offset, Annville. She was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church, Lebanon, and also attended services at the United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd, Lebanon. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Lebanon; a charter member of Tolerance Chapter No. 502, Order of the Eastern Star; Lebanon Valley College Auxiliary, Annville; and the Highspire Alumni Association. She enjoyed planting flowers, traveling with her family on extended vacations, and was an avid reader. She is survived by daughter, Maribetty E., wife of Paul A. Wancour, Lebanon; a son, Jerry W., husband of Sharon F. Shaak, Lebanon; granddaughters, Tina L. Hain and Paula R. Tull; great-granddaughters, Alicia Hain and Jessica Hain; great-grandsons, Nicholas Tull and Dylan Tull. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, with a viewing beginning on Wednesday at 12 p.m. Interment will be made in the Kimmerlings Cemetery.
