Shindle, 84, of Lebanon died Friday, October 31, 2008, in the good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Myrle Gamble Shindle, with whom he would have celebrated a 64th wedding anniversary on Christmas Day. Born in Lebanon on April 25, 1924, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Laudermilch Shindle. He retired from the Bethlehem Steel Foundry, after 37 years. John was a veteran in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in World War II, and a member of the Friendship Fire Co. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Paula E., wife of Philip Schaak of Lebanon, Pamela J., wife of Thomas R. Gilbert of Robesonia; son Randy S. Shindle and wife Barbara of Lewisberry; six grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren; three great-greatgrandchildren; sister Geraldine Shindle of Lebanon; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Shindle; and a sister, Betty DeSantis. Private family services will be held. Interment will be in Ebenezer "Greenwood" Cemetery.
