Shirato, 96, formerly of Newmanstown, Pa., died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at the E. C. C. Retirement Village- Albright Campus, Myerstown, Pa. Born in Womelsdorf, Pa., on September 13, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Horace J. Webner and Lula A. Gruttis Troutman. She was the wife of the late Matthew F. Shirato, who died June 6, 1990. A 1929 graduate of Newmanstown High School, she worked at CNA Insurance, Reading, Pa., for many years, retiring in 1976. Prior to the insurance company, she was a faithful worker at Nolde Knitting Mills, Womelsdorf, for many years, never missing a day of work. She was a member of New Beginnings-Grace Brethren Church, Myerstown, Pa., an avid reader, and enjoyed painting, traveling and knitting. She loved her family and spending time with them. She is survived by daughters Anita Fay, wife of Joel Moehlmann of Richland, Pa., and Kathleen "Janie," wife of Gerald Lengel of Newmanstown, Pa.; grandchildren Heather Moehlmann-Karnes, wife of Robert Karnes of Richland, Pa., Scott, husband of Kim Lengel of Newmanstown, Pa., Bronwyn Moehlmann of Newmanstown, Pa., Shawn, wife of Michael Weaver of Myerstown, Pa., and Arn Moehlmann of Richland, Pa.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Marion Riehl and Selah Sheetz, and brothers Harold Frederick, Raymond Webner and Richard Troutman. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 11 a.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, Pa. A visitation will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment at Womelsdorf Union Cemetery, Womelsdorf, Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the "Navaho Mission," c/o New Beginnings-Grace Brethren Church, 430 E. Lincoln Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067.
