Miller shabodeho@aol.com June 10, 2008, 8:20 pm Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 5/29/2008 Shirey, Charles Vinten Charles Vinten Shirey, 100, formerly of East Cherry Street, Palmyra, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra. Born March 30, 1908, in Redbank Township, Armstrong County, he was a son of the late Charles M. and Esther S. (Mohney) Shirey. He was the owner of the former C. V. Shirey Sheet Metal, Palmyra, from 1965 - 1973, had worked for Carlos R. Adams Construction, and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Palmyra. He enjoyed traveling, singing and dancing with his wife of 76 years, Frances I. (Harmon) Shirey, who died in 2003, and was also preceded in death by sons Ervin C. Shirey and Robert D. Shirey, and siblings Russell, Reed, Harold, Samuel, Essie, Ruth, Mildred and Alberta. Surviving are a son, Jack C. Shirey of Campbelltown; 11 grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren; and two great- greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, in the DiMatteo Worship Center at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb Street, Palmyra, preceded by a viewing from 9 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund, c/o Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb Street, Palmyra, PA 17078.
