Miller shabodeho@aol.com February 10, 2008, 9:21 pm Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 1/16/2008 Singer, Nanette Platt Willis Nanette Platt Willis Singer PALMYRA Nanette Platt Willis Singer, 56, of Palmyra passed into glory on December 14, 2007. She was the loving wife of William Singer. Born in East Orange, N.J., she was the daughter of Margaret McKendry Willis of Palmyra and the late Dr. Leslie Willis. She earned a bachelor's degree in English and English history from Wilson College and her master's degree in adult education and English literature with an emphasis on British literature from Penn State University. She was a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, Middletown, where she served on the vestry, as a lay reader, choir member, director of Vacation Bible School, Capitol Campaign chairman and was a member of the Interfaith Council of Middletown. She taught at Lower Dauphin High School for 31 years, serving as an advisor to the yearbook, Debate Club, and Falcon Flash newspaper. She also served as an adult education director, language arts coordinator, Senior Awards, Culminating Project, Advance Placement, PSSA, staff development and strategic planning committees. She was a finalist for Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year Award in 1990. She was member of the NEA, PSEA, LDEA, NCTE, PCTE, Educators of Lower Dauphin, Pi Lambda Theta, and was past president and vice president of Phi Delta Kappa. She leaves a legacy of devotion to her students and to education. Nan received her license from the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission in November 2004 and was affiliated with Brownstone Real Estate from the start of her real estate career. She held an SRESĘ designation (Senior Real Estate Specialist) and was a past recipient of the Lebanon County Association of REALTORS Winners Circle Award in 2006. She was also a listing agent/sales representative for the new home community, The Brickyard at Edgewater Hills. She was a member of: The Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORSĘ, The Lebanon County Association of REALTORSĘ, The Pennsylvania Association of REALTORSĘ, The National Association of REALTORSĘ, Central Pennsylvania Multi- List and Keystone Multi-List and was active in the Palmyra Kiwanis. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Nan's life celebration in a memorial service to be held from St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, Ann and Grant Streets, Middletown, on Saturday, January 19, 2008, at 3 p.m. lnterment will be private. The Nanette Willis Singer Scholarship Fund has been established in Nan's honor. Memorial gifts may be made to the Scholarship Fund and sent to Lower Dauphin H.S., c/o Nancy Gamber, 291 E.
