(Light) Smith, 82, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of Cottage 304B, Quincy, died at 6:15 a.m., Sunday, April 6, 2008, in the nursing home. Born December 2, 1925, in Lebanon, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Sterling S. and Ruth (Runkel) Light. She lived her early life in the Lebanon area. Mrs. Smith graduated from Lebanon Senior High School with the class of 1943. She later took various courses at the Lebanon Business College and the American Institute of Banking. She and her husband, the late Rev. Howard H. Smith Jr., were married on December 8, 1946, in the Covenant United Methodist Church in Lebanon. They lived in various parts of Pennsylvania because of the different churches Rev. Smith served. They moved to Quincy Village on September 7, 1994. Reverend Smith died on June 29, 1995. In her early years, Mrs. Smith was a bookkeeper at Lebanon First National Bank. After moving to the Waynesboro area, she served as a teacher's aide for title I children at South Mountain School, later Mowery Elementary School, in Quincy. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. She was very active with the Quincy United Methodist Home Chapel, including singing in the choir. She was also a member of the Widow's of Central Pennsylvania United Methodist Church Conference, and the Quincy United Methodist Home Auxiliary. Mrs. Smith was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and enjoying spending time with her family. She was also an avid reader and a stamping enthusiast. She is survived by one son, Jonathan K. Smith of Waynesboro; two granddaughters; one great-grandson; one foster daughter, Ellen Shatto of Harrisburg, Pa.; one sister, Marilyn M. Boyer, a resident of Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra, Pa.; and one niece. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Katrina S. "Katy" Smith, who died on November 21, 1980. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2008, in the Bryson Room at Quincy United Methodist Home, 6596 Orphanage Road, with the Rev. John Rauch, officiating. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. in Kochenderfer Church Cemetery, Lebanon. There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends a half hour prior to the services in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Quincy United Methodist Home Benevolent Care Fund, P.O.
