  Anna Marie (Bowers) Smoker READING Anna Marie (Bowers) Smoker, 101, died 
  Saturday March 15, 2008 in Elmcroft of Reading. She was the widow of Rev. John 
  L. Smoker who passed away in 1978. Born in Lancaster County, she was the 
  daughter of the late Harry S. and Amy Bowers. Having graduated from E. 
  Hempfield High School, she attended business school and was later employed by 
  American Camel Co. and Teachers Insurance Co. in Lancaster. An accomplished 
  pianist, she was a student of Dr. Becker von Grabill, the last pupil of Anton 
  Rubenstein. A longtime resident of Mt. Gretna she also lived in Neffsville, 
  Intercourse and Pottstown where her husband had pastorates. A member of Mt. 
  Gretna United Methodist Church, where she was active in many of its 
  organizations. She was also a member of Mt. Gretna Winterites and her interests 
  included music, cooking and crafts. Surviving are three children: J. Richard 
  husband of Elizabeth Smoker, Monocacy Station; Joanne Marie Harner widow of 
  Harry Harner, Ocean City, Md.; James Robert husband of Joanne Smoker, Reading; 
  5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brother 
  John Bowers. Funeral service Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., Mt. Gretna UM Church 
  where family and friends will be received following the service. Interment 
  Centerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mt. 
  Gretna UM Church, Mt. Gretna 17064 or Salem UM Church, West & Evans sts, 
  Pottstown 19464. The Rohland Funeral Home, Inc., Lebanon is in charge of 
  arrangements
