Strauss, 73, of Darkes Road, Jonestown, died Friday, January 25, 2008, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born March 10, 1934, in Jonestown, he was a son of the late Stanley L. and Kathryn P. (Tice) Strauss. He was the owner of the former Strauss Funeral Home Inc., Jonestown, for 44 years; was a life member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Jonestown, where he was formerly a deacon and an elder. He was a member of Mount Lebanon Lodge No. 226 F. & A.M., Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine, Jonestown Lions, Jonestown American Legion, and was a U. S. Army veteran. He enjoyed fishing in Canada and attending ice hockey games, especially the Hershey Bears and Philadelphia Flyers. Surviving are his wife Linda (Shaud) Strauss; children Gordon W. Jr., husband of Doriann Strauss of Fredericksburg, Lynne A. Strauss of Lewes, Delaware, Lisa A. Strauss of Harrisburg and Leslie A. Strauss of Annville-Cleona; grandchildren Andrea, wife of Jason Rebuck, Zachary Strauss, Scott Strauss, Brianna Mason, Dylon Strauss, Selena Strauss, Colleen, wife of James Dayton, John O'Connor and Elliott Kleckner; greatgrandchildren Cailin Dayton, Tyler O'Connor, Shawn Sprecher and Aden Rebuck. He was preceded in death by brothers Stanley Strauss and Richard Strauss, sister Phyllis Muldoon, and a granddaughter Lana Sprecher. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra, preceded by a viewing from 1 ñ 2 p.m. Masonic services will be conducted at 12:45 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Jonestown.
