Truax Sr., 71, of 315 Crowell St., Lebanon, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at his residence. Born June 21, 1937, in Wellsville, N.Y., he was the son of the late Leonard and Clesta Hunt Truax. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a graduate of Wellsville High School, N.Y., and was a member of R Field and Stream, Maennerchor Club, Lincoln Republican Club, and Mt. Zion Fire Co. He enjoyed shooting traps and hunting. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Surviving are six children, Michael Truax, Terry Truax, Debbie Truax, Ricky L. Canby Sr., Preston K. Truax, and Roger J. Truax Jr.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert and Thomas Truax; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Graveside services Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Family and friends may gather from 12:30-1 at Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 126 S. Ninth St., Lebanon.
