  Ann Davis Vaeth ROANOKE, VA Ann Davis Vaeth, 79, of Roanoke, Va., went to be 
  with her Lord on Monday morning, January 28, 2008. Ann was a graduate of Duke 
  University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, had her pilot's license, 
  and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Ann was a loving family mother with 
  a zest for life and a keen mind. She enjoyed tennis, golf, and the great 
  outdoors. Ann loved to travel with her beloved husband. She was preceded in 
  death by a son, William (Chippy) Paul Shaver, and is survived by her loving and 
  devoted husband, Joseph J. Vaeth; her children, Leslie Ann Martin of Culpeper, 
  Va., Michael Gibson Shaver of Lancaster, Pa., Dr. Robert Davis Shaver of 
  Palmyra, Pa., and Mark Andrew Shaver and wife Leah, of Philadelphia, Pa.; six 
  grandchildren; and her sister, Eloise Davis Sowder, of Roanoke. A memorial 
  service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Wednesday, January 30, 2008, 
  10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Donna Hopkins Britt officiating. In lieu of flowers, 
  the family suggests donations to the Bradley Free Clinic, 1240 Third Street 
  S.W., Roanoke, VA 24016. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 6 to 8 
  p.m. at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 540-9822100.
