Bingham H. Van Dyke, 96, Cornwall Manor, Cornwall, died Saturday, December 13, 2008, in his residence. He was the husband of the late Marguerite Barr Van Dyke. He was born in Merion on May 17, 1912, son of the late Edgar C. and Katherine Hood Van Dyke. He received his B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania Class of 1933, and worked as a professional engineer for various companies. Mr. Van Dyke was a life member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and a former member of the Westmoreland Lodge No. 518 F&AM. He was one of the first graduates of Valley Forge Military Academy. He had served two terms as a borough councilman in Cornwall. Surviving are two sons, Bingham H. Van Dyke Jr. and wife Janice C. of Sandpoint, Idaho, Richard D. Van Dyke and wife Ann L. of Conway, S.C.; daughter Marguerite V. Evans of Cedar Hills, Utah; six grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; brother Dean N. Van Dyke of Beaufort, S.C.; and sister Mary L. Healy of Philadelphia. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2009, at 2 p.m. in Zerr Chapel of Cornwall Manor, Cornwall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cornwall Manor Resident Fund, P.O. Box 125, Cornwall, PA 17016. The Rohland Funeral Home Inc., Lebanon, is in charge of the arrangements.
