The daughter of the late Dr. John P. Leidy and Jean B. Leidy, she grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania, and graduated Vassar College. A resident of Cos Cob, Connecticut, for over 30 years, she contributed countless creative hours to local organizations such as the Greenwich Arts Council, the Junior League of Greenwich, the Greenwich YWCA, and the Greenwich High School PTA, among many others. Jean was a knowledgeable and dynamic realtor at Prudential Connecticut Realty until the time of her death. She is survived by her daughter, Liza Veto of Washington, D.C.; her son, Reid Veto, and his wife, Julie of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her beloved grandchildren, Adrian and Cecily; her sister Leah Marmon, husband James, and daughter Lane of Cos Cob; and by her former husband, Eugene Veto, and his wife, Sue of Bonita Springs, Fla. An internment service will be held at the Charles Evans Cemetery, 1119 Centre Avenue in Reading, on Saturday, September 27th, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial contributions be made in honor of Jean Leidy Veto to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Patient Free Care Fund.
