Vogt, age 88, of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra, died Thursday, October 23, 2008, in the home. He was the husband of Patience Ann Smyrl Vogt, who died March 2, 2004. He was born in Philadelphia on March 26, 1920, to Emmanuel and Naomi Flemming Vogt. He retired after 40 years of service from Philadelphia Electric as an electric meter supervisor. He is a member of the Aldan Union Church in Aldan, Pa., but attended the Lebanon Valley Bible Church in Lebanon, Pa. His hobbies included woodworking, furniture making, caining, leather tooling, stain glass, gardening and counted cross-stitch. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy as a chief electrician's mate. Surviving are his children, a son, John R. Vogt, and his wife, Cyndi of Perkasie, Pa.; and a daughter, Nancy L., wife of Allan Paul of Collegeville, Pa.; grandchildren Timothy Paul and his wife, Michelle, Mark Paul and his wife, Leslie, and Kimberly Paul; two great-grandchildren, Alexandra Rae Paul and Hannah Grace Paul. A son, Glenn D. Vogt, preceded him in death. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, from 10-11 a.m. at the DiMatteo Worship Center of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb St., Palmyra, followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Norman Yeater officiating. Burial will be private in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home Good Samaritan Hospital Fund, 1200 Grubb St., Palmyra, PA 17078. Rothermel Funeral Home Inc. is entrusted with funeral services.
