Wealand, 79, of the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, and formerly of Palmyra, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at the Masonic Village. He was the husband of the late Helen Shearer Wealand, who died on October 28, 1989. Born in Schaefferstown on January 31, 1929, he was the son of the late Norman and Flossie Hower Wealand. Norman worked as a supervisor in the shipping department at Hershey Foods Corp., and was a union leader for Hershey Foods. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Brownstone Masonic Lodge No. 666, Hershey, for 35 years, the Palmyra Sportsman's Club, a Boy Scout leader of Troop 56 Palmyra, and coached little league softball. Norman was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a fan of the Hershey Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles. Surviving are a son, Brent S. Wealand and wife Denise of Lebanon; a daughter, Norm-Anne, wife of Randall L. Rothermel of Palmyra; two brothers, Daniel Wealand of Myerstown and David Wealand of Jonestown; two sisters, Mary Kreiser of Jonestown and Ruth Johnson of Lebanon; and two grandchildren, Christopher P. and Heather L. Wealand. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary S. Wealand; and a brother, Paul Wealand. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra, with full military honors. Viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
