She was the wife of the late Lloyd K. Weaver, and daughter of the late Monroe E. Bollinger and Kattie Keener Bollinger Horst. She was born June 25, 1911, in Schaefferstown. She was a 1929 graduate of Lebanon High School, and a 1932 graduate of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She then went on to supervisor training at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. After completing her training, she remained at the Children's Hospital serving as a supervisor in the out-patient clinic for several years. Upon returning to Lebanon, she began working at the Lebanon Sanitorium (Hyman Caplan Pavilion) owned and operated by the very skilled and efficient surgeon and diagnostician, Dr. John L. Groh. She served in all nursing positions, including head nurse, during her 30-year tenure at the Lebanon Sanitorium. She is credited with instituting the eight-hour working day for the nursing staff. She was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church, Lebanon, since 1949, and the Fredericksburg American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post 915. She is survived by grandsons Nathan Sherk of Myerstown, Andrew Sherk of Lebanon; granddaughters Sarah, Haley and Sage Sherk; son-in-law Leroy Sherk of Lebanon; sister Arlene Huber of Connecticut; brother Ray G. Horst of Schaefferstown; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Sherk; brothers Harold, Henry and Clarence Horst; sister Jennie Krall; and stepfather Raymond Horst. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 23rd, at 10:30 a.m. in the Rohland Funeral Home, Fifth and Cumberland streets, Lebanon, with a viewing beginning on Friday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be made in the Schaefferstown Cemetery.
