Wenger, 89, husband of Louise Rice Wenger of Willow Valley, and formerly Quarryville, entered into rest on Sunday, August 24, 2008. Born in Lebanon County, he was the son of the late Levi M. and Emma Brown Wenger. Henry graduated from Fredericksburg High School, and received a B.S. degree from Penn State University. He taught vocational agriculture in Northumberland County and at Schaefferstown in Lebanon County. He later went into the insurance business, starting the Henry Wenger Agency in Quarryville, and received the CLU designation from the American College of Chartered Life Underwriters. Henry was an active member of the Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, where he served on various committees and also taught Sunday school. He was a member and past president of the Quarryville, Pennsylvania, chapter of the Rotary Club, and was also a member of Masonic Lodge 156 of Quarryville, and the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection. Henry served as chairman of the committee to establish the first zoning ordinances in Colerain Township, where he resided. In addition to his wife, Henry is survived by one daughter, Linn Wenger Lyons, widow of George Lyons of Fulton, Mo.; two sons, Hugh, husband of Kathy Moyer Wenger of Elizabethtown, Pa., and Scott, husband of Annette Lentz Wenger of Pottstown, Pa.; one granddaughter, Kimberly, wife of Collin Sanford of Aurora, Ill.; a sister, Ethel Wenger Kerscher, widow of Frederick Kerscher of Lancaster, Pa.; and a brother, Richard, husband of Marjorie of Lancaster, Pa. Five brothers, Edward, Myers, Ammon, Lloyd, Wilbur; and five sisters, Stella, Mary, Anna, Elsie, and Emma predeceased him in death. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2008, at the Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, 1392 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, at 11 a.m. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Saturday from 10 until 11. The interment will be private in the adjoining cemetery. Please omit flowers; contributions may be made in Henry's memory to Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren. Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services in Quarryville is assisting the family.
