He was a native and longtime resident of Lebanon County, Pa., before retiring to St. Augustine in 2005. He attended Princeton University and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Bill worked in the family business, H.E. Millard Lime & Stone Co., and Millarden Farms in Annville, Pa., until the company was sold in 1968. During Bill's lifetime, he gave much of his time and talents serving the Lebanon County community. He was extremely active for more than 37 years with Lebanon Valley College, serving as secretary of the Board of Trustees for 25 years. For most of that tenure, he was active on the building committee, and was deeply involved in the planning and construction of many of the major campus buildings, most notably Blair Music Center, and Garber Science Center. At one time or another, he served on virtually every trustee committee, including many years as secretary of the finance and investment committee. He was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Lebanon Valley College in 1988. Bill served on the Board of Directors of the Lebanon Valley National Bank for 35 years, where he was very involved in the opening of numerous branch offices. Bill also served on the Lebanon Community Library Board. Bill was an active member of the Annville United Methodist Church for 55 years, and joined St. Andrews Presbyterian Church when he moved to Lebanon. His lifelong love of the outdoors included fishing, flying, tennis and, most of all, gardening. He was an avid reader as well. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane Kreider Williams of St. Augustine; daughters, Kathryn and husband Richard Myerburg of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jacqueline Stadiem of Billings, Montana, Nancy Williams of California, and Elizabeth Williams of Ormond Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Christopher W. Stadiem, Michael M. Myerburg, Erin Mitchell; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held in Florida at a later date. Contributions in his memory can be made to Lebanon Valley College, 101 N. College Ave., Annville, PA 17003. Kotrady-Hudgins-Croyle Funeral Home in St. Augustine is in charge of arrangements.
