Market Street, Apt. 414, York, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, from injuries sustained from a fall while she was hiking in an area that she enjoyed in Conoy Township, Lancaster County. Born in Lebanon on November 25, 1977, she was the daughter of John E. and Eileen Tshudy Yorty of Annville. She was a secondary English teacher in the Red Lion Area School District for seven years and, prior to that, was a long term substitute teacher in the spring of 2001 at New Covenant Christian School, Lebanon. Sara was a 1996 graduate of AnnvilleCleona High School, a 2000 graduate of Philadelphia Biblical University with degrees in secondary English and Bible, and received her master's degree from Millersville University. She attended St. John's Evangelical Congregational Church, Steelstown, where she attended Sunday school and played the piano, and also attended Living Word Church in Red Lion. She was a long time member of the Hoof and Horns 4H Club, where she held several offices, and was also a member of the Amature Arabian Horse Club. Sara enjoyed traveling, horseback riding, hiking, skiing, golfing, and playing the piano, and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles Fan. During college and at Red Lion, Sara enjoyed helping to direct theatre for the school productions. She had a strong Christian faith, was a loving aunt, devoted to her family and friends, loved animals, and rescuing cats. Surviving in addition to her parents are a brother, Matthew J. Yorty and wife Stephanie of Palmyra; a sister, Missy E. Yorty of Altoona; a nephew, Ethan John Yorty; maternal grandfather John H. Tshudy Sr. of Annville; a paternal grandmother, Arlene Fortna Yorty, wife of Vere Hains of Annville; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. from Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, 710 S. White Oak Street, Annville. Interment will be in St. John's E. C. Church Cemetery, Steelstown. Viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E. Main St., Annville, and also on Saturday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Red Lion Area Education Association, C/O Sara Yorty's Memorial, Red Lion Area Senior High School, 200 Horace Mann Ave., Red Lion, PA 17356.
