(Leibig) Mary E. (Leibig) Alexander, 84, of South Windsor, Conn., devoted wife of the late John E. Alexander Jr., went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 6th, 2009, at Lord Chamberlain in Stratford, Conn. Mary was born on April 27, 1924, in Rexmont, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles and Viola Leibig. She attended school in Cornwall, Pa., graduating with honors in 1941, and received her R.N. degree in 1945 from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Lancaster. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife and loving and caring mother. She is survived by her son, John E. Alexander III of South Windsor, Conn.; her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Gerard Treacy of Shelton, Conn.; her sister, Louise Broughall of Cornwall; her sister and brother-in-law, Madlyn and John Shay of Quentin; her sisters-inlaw, Elmira Leibig of Lebanon, Phyllis Leibig of Myerstown, and Ruth Zimmerman of Lancaster; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Christine Matthews; her three brothers, Warren, Charles Jr., and Herman Leibig; and her brothersin-law, Norman Matthews, Edward Broughall and John Zimmerman. Funeral services Wednesday at 12 p.m. from Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 126 S. Ninth St., Lebanon, with the Rev. Scott Shay officiating. Burial will follow in Schaefferstown Cemetery. Viewing hours Wednesday morning from 11-12 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to Lord Chamberlain Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 7003 Main St., Stratford, CT 06614-1397; or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., Seventh Floor, New York, NY 10001.
