Mary E. Anderson, 96, a resident of the Lebanon Valley Home, Annville, and 
formerly of 1012 River Rd., McVeytown, died at 10:05 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 
2009, at the home. Born Dec. 8, 1912, in Oliver Twp., Mifflin County she was a 
daughter of the late Wilbur C. and Blanche (Rhoads) Swigart. Her husband, Clair 
R. Anderson, preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1999. Surviving are: children 
Thelma DeFoy and husband Edward of Moreno Valley, CA; Donald C. Anderson and 
wife Lucinda of Jonestown; and Leona Vargas and husband Goby of Falfurrias, TX. 
Also surviving: a brother, Fred L. Swigart and wife Betty of McClure; four 
grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and 
husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Esther Anderson and Ruth 
Anderson; a grandson, Dean Vargas; two brothers and a sister. She was a 
homemaker and a member of Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, where she taught 
Sunday School for many years. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. 
Thursday, July 2, at Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, Pine Glen Rd., 
Lewistown, with the Rev. Ralph Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Spring 
Run Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at 
HellerHoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. In lieu of 
flowers, her family requests memorial contributions may be sent to Lebanon 
Valley Home Benevolent Fund, 550 E. Main St., Annville, PA 17003.
