Bachman, 97, formerly of East Hempfield Township, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Brethren Village Retirement Community Lancaster. She was the loving wife of the late G. Lester Bachman, who died in 1965. Born in Lebanon County, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Mary Bucher Bomberger. In 1982 Sallie retired after working for over 11 years at the Datcom Instrument Company, East Petersburg. Previously she worked 19 years for the Hamilton Watch Company. Sallie was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, East Petersburg. She and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the western United States and Europe. Her interests included needlework, flower and vegetable gardening, and attending yard sales. Surviving are two sons, Richard L., husband of Joyce Connell Bachman of Alexandria, Va., and Donald C., husband of Barbara Habecker Bachman of Milroy; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Bachman of East Petersburg; a sister-in-law, Ruth Bomberger of Myerstown; seven grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, Glenn R. Bachman, and a brother, Roy Bomberger. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service from the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1905 Broad St., East Petersburg, on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel M. Long officiating. Interment is in Conestoga Memorial Park Lancaster. There will be a public viewing at the church on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
