Richard M. Bartlett, age 79, of Lebanon died April 9, 2009, after a long battle with strokerelated illnesses. He was born in Philadelphia May 28, 1929, to Richard B. and Irene Bartlett. After graduating from North East High School, he was employed in the insurance department of Sun Oil Co. until serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Dec. 27, 1950, he married the love of his life, Mary I. Hasson. They remained married until her death from Alzheimer's Disease on April 9th, 2002. Richard attended Rider College on the G.I. Bill during the 1950s while working full time. He was employed in the insurance industry all of his working life and retired from the Lebanon Mutual Insurance Co., where he served as president from 19841994. He is fondly remembered in the industry for his business acumen, fair mindedness and willingness to create opportunities for hard workers, irregardless of their backgrounds. Richard was a life long music lover. As a young man, he played clarinet in jazz and swing bands and considered a career as a symphony musician. He found comfort and solace in music until his last earthly moments. Richard, who for most of his life went by the nickname "Dick," was a proud 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He is survived by his son, Dr. Richard A. Bartlett, and wife Dorothy of Dover, Mass., and their children, Elizabeth, John, Simona and Robert; his younger son, Ross D. Bartlett, and wife Susan of Limington, Maine, their three children, Jennifer, Ross W., Rebecca and their significant others; great-grandchildren Grady and Gavin; and his former daughter-inlaw, Pamela E.
