Carl R. Potocny, 83, of Lebanon died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Evelyn M. Yeagley Potocny. Born in Lebanon on May 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Emma Kunik Potocny. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II, and a Police Officer for the City of Lebanon. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Navy Club-Ship 91, and a supporter of St. Benedict the Abbot Church. He is survived by his 2 daughters: Patricia Potocny of Lebanon and Janet Potocny Writer of Vermont and their partners Anna May Davidson and Dean Writer; 1 grandson: James Writer; 3 siblings: Helen Miller of Lebanon, Agnes Leigh of Wisconsin, John Potocny of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by his son Robert Potocny, brother Ferdinand (Bud) Potocny, and sister Joanne Hitchings. Graveside services for friends and family Tuesday at 2 p.m. on Holy Cross Cemetery, 20th and Hill Sts., Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice Unit, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
