  Beard, Charles R.   
   
   
  Charles R. Beard, age 78, of North Londonderry Township, Lebanon County, died 
  Friday, March 6, 2009, in the Palmyra Nursing Home. He was the husband of the 
  late Shirley Ann "Noot" (Souder) Beard, who died April 28, 2006. He was born on 
  July 23, 1930, in Cornwall, to Charles R. and Helen Engle Beard. He retired as 
  a selfemployed contractor. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, 
  Palmyra. He is survived by his son, Charles "Chuck" R. Beard II and his wife, 
  Kim of Annville; his two granddaughters, Katie and Abby Beard of Annville; 
  sisters Dolores Miller of Cornwall and Joyce Shoemaker of Lebanon; brothers 
  Harold Beard and Bernard "Tink" Beard, both of Lebanon; a brother, William 
  Beard, preceded him in death. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of 
  viewing on Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Rothermel Funeral Home Inc., 25 W. 
  Pine St., Palmyra, from 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 
  on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at 10 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 W. Pine 
  St., Palmyra, followed by burial in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with 
  full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given 
  to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1274, Lebanon, PA 17042. Rothermel 
  Funeral Home Inc. is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
