Born April 16, 1922, in Womelsdorf, he was the son of the late Raymond W.C. and Elsie Ellen (German) Bennethum. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was also a life member and past commander of VFW Post 6558, Womelsdorf He was a member of Zion UCC, Womelsdorf. He was the co-owner of Eiceman & Bennethum Texaco, Robesonia, for 35 years, until his retirement in 1984. He is survived by two daughters, Janice R. Conner of Tulpehocken Township and Michele G. Bennethum of Rehrersburg; two brothers, Paul Bennethum of Strasburg, Lancaster County, and Louis S.P. Bennethum of Wernersville; and one grandson, Jeremy Conner; and longtime friend Lorraine E. Raihl. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Bennethum; and stepbrother Carl Bennethum. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in Zion UCC, 12 S. Second St., Womelsdorf, PA 19567, with the Rev. William A. Pifer-Foote officiating. Interment will be private in Zion Lutheran & Reformed Cemetery, Womelsdorf. The family will receive friends and relatives following the service in the social hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Handicapped Accessibility Fund of Zion UCC, PO Box 97, Womelsdorf, PA 19567. The Hetrick-Mull Funeral Home Inc., Womelsdorf, is in charge of arrangements.
