Blecker, Jr., 82, of the Lebanon Valley Home, formerly of Hill Terrace, Lebanon, died Monday, December 14, 2009, in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Fern May Long Blecker. He was born in Lebanon, on July 10, 1927, a son of the late Albert W., Sr. and Katherine M. Miller Blecker. He had been employed as a highway department clerk and was retired from MetEd as a right-of-way agent, having worked there for 20 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater and during the Korean Conflict in the Atlantic and Mediterranean areas. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School and the Lebanon Business College and he attended Elizabethtown College. He was a member of St. Mark's U.C.C.; Mt. Lebanon Lodge #226; Harrisburg Consistory as a 32nd Degree Mason; Weidle Royal Arch Chapter 197; Hermit Commandery No. 24 Knights Templar; Lebanon Council No. 27; Tall Cedars of Lebanon No. 25; and Zembo Temple Shrine. He was a life member of the VFW Post #23; charter member of American Legion Post 910; charter member of the Navy Club Ship 91; Society of the 213th CAAA; Central PA Sports Hall of Fame; life member of the Liberty Fire Co. and the Liberty Marching Club; Friendship Fire Co.; Fireman's Association of Southeastern PA; Lincoln Republican Club; Maennerchor Club; 5th Ward A.C.; Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Memorial Council; and he was an avid fan of Penn State and Eagles football teams, as well as the Phillies baseball team. He is survived by daughter, Gail Blecker Verna of Lebanon; grandson, Shane J. and wife, Shawn Moyer of Fredericksburg; greatgrandchildren, Jordan Moyer, Sierra Moyer, Sydney Moyer, and Jayden Moyer, all of Fredericksburg; brothers, Lynn Blecker, Sr. of Lancaster and Bruce Blecker of Mt. Gretna; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Mark's U.C.C., 426 N. 8th St., Lebanon, PA 17046. Viewing will be from 1 p.m. to the time of service in the church. Interment will be made in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Masonic services will be held Saturday at 12:45 p.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the memorial fund of the church; or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1274, Lebanon, PA 17042. The Rohland Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
