Bowman OCEANSIDE, CA Helen Elizabeth Bowman was born to Claflin and Ruth Bowman in Myerstown, on July 4, 1922, the eldest of eight children. Helen studied economics at Cedar Crest College in Allentown. After college, Helen moved to Los Angeles, Calif., and worked at Hughes Helicopter. She went on to earn a degree in engineering with assistance from Hughes. A friend from work repeatedly invited Helen to visit his church, The Church of the Open Door, and it was there that Helen gave her heart to the Lord. She was blessed by Dr. McGee's excellent preaching and grew in her walk with God. While still working at Hughes, Helen also began working weekends as a realtor. She decided to move to Oceanside and make it her full time profession. She loved the challenge of real estate and was known as "The Lady with the Hats". It was her conviction that everything she had was a gift from God and made it her ministry to help widows and missionaries through her business. Helen loved to travel and made friends wherever she went. She also loved her family, her pastor, church, and her home. She passed away peacefully at her home in Oceanside. To God be the glory! She is survived by brothers, George (Esther) and John Bowman; sisters, Mary Jane (Carl) Gacono and Ann Bowman; 10 beloved nieces and nephews; 13 great- nieces and nephews; and two greatgreat-nieces and nephews.
