Born January 22, 1939, in Cornwall, Pa., he was a son of the late Frank E. Sr. and Ruth (Seaber) Brenner. Frank is survived by his wife of 49 years, the Rev. Jeannine J. Brenner of Lancaster. Mister Brenner was a graduate of Cornwall High School and Millersville State Teacher's College, where he lettered in tennis. Ed retired after 31 years of service as a teacher at Linglestown Elementary School in Harrisburg. After his retirement, he enjoyed his role as a pastor's husband and was a faithful supporter of his wife's ministry. Ed was a member of Conestoga United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Wednesday night Bible Study at Milton Grove United Methodist Church in Mount Joy and found much support from that group. For the last five years, he fought valiantly to regain an active life following a debilitating stroke. Ed was an avid sports fan, and he will always be remembered for his intense devotion to Penn State football and coach Joe Paterno. He was an umpire, coach, and player in an over-50 softball league, a longtime member of the Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society, and a lifelong A's fan. Ed will be remembered as a devoted friend and family member who enjoyed flowers, yard work, and collecting baseball cards in his free time. Ed cherished the family vacations to Ocean City, New Jersey, with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mr. Brenner is survived by his brother, P. James, husband of Cheryl Brenner of Lancaster; two daughters, Darcy Brenner-Smith, wife of Kenneth Smith of Harrisburg, and Amy, wife of Robert McChesney of Sewell, New Jersey; and five grandchildren, Andrew and Keriann Smith and Robert, Joseph, and Erica McChesney. Relatives and friends are invited to funeral services scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Conestoga United Methodist Church, 71 Sand Hill Road, Conestoga, with the Rev. W. Gary Epler, the Rev. Kenneth H. O'Neal, and the Rev. Richard E. Wilcock officiating. Viewings will be on Saturday, April 4, 2009, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Gundel Funeral Home, 415 North Duke Street, Lancaster, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.
