(Flamm) Brobst, 88, formerly of Reading, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009, at 3:50 a.m. at Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon, where she had been a resident for 9 years. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Paul A. Flamm and Marguerite (Maurer) Flamm, and widow of the late Donald V. Brobst Sr., who passed away in 1984. She was a 1942 graduate of Reading High School, and member of St. Paul's R.C.C. in Reading. She worked as a secretary for Car Tech in the Order Dept. from 1942 to 1946, and worked as a secretary for Albert Insurance Co, in Reading. Once her children were born, she worked in Assembly for Shoeners Candy Factory for many years, retiring in 1981. She volunteered at the Senior Center in Reading, the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, and served Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed traveling, and was able to visit all 50 states. She also enjoyed reading. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra J. (Brobst), wife of Kenneth Michael Sr. of Lebanon; and a son, Donald V. Brobst Jr. of Reading; four grandchildren, Kenneth Jr., Yvonne, Casey, and Mark; and five greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, William J. and Dr. Paul A. Flamm of Reading, Clifford of Reifton, and Joseph of St. Lawrence. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Brobst; and a sister, Elizabeth (Brobst) Kantnor. Services from the Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 N. 9th St., Reading, Friday at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial takes place at St. Paul's R.C.C., 151 N. 9th St., Reading, Friday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Andrew A. Ulincy Celebrant. Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends will be received Friday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul's R.C.C., 151 N. 9th St. Reading, PA 19601; or Spang Crest Manor, 945 Duke St., Lebanon, PA 17042.
