John G. Brubaker, 85, of Community Park Drive, Palmyra died Friday, April 10, 2009 in the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra. Born June 9, 1923 in Palmyra, he was a son of the late Phares R. and Lizzie (Graybill) Brubaker and was also preceded in death by his first wife Kathryn (Books) Brubaker and brothers Jay Brubaker and Glenn Brubaker. He retired as a trust officer from the former American Bank, was a graduate of Palmyra High School, a member of Lebanon Valley Bible Church, Lebanon and was treasurer of Child Evangelism Fellowship for 25 years. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Signal Corp under General George Patton. He was a construction and bookkeeping volunteer for Countryside Christian Community, Annville. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, traveling and he especially enjoyed spending time at the family cabin. Surviving are his wife Lucille C. (Schwalm) Curry Brubaker; sons Donald, husband of Barbara Brubaker of Palmyra, Michael, husband of Margie Brubaker of Frederick, Maryland, Eric, husband of Sue Brubaker of Palmyra and Daryl, husband of Susan Brubaker of Harrisburg; step children Luanne, wife of James Reese of Womelsdorf, John, husband of Vickie Curry of Hershey and Sally, wife of Nathan Bacon of Waynesboro; an adopted daughter Ruth Anna Buck of Campbelltown; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at his church, 1482 Horseshoe Pike, Lebanon, preceded by a visitation from 1:00 PM. Burial will be in the United Christian Cemetery, Campbelltown at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Good Samaritan Fund, 1200 Grubb Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 or to the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Lebanon County, 637 Chestnut Street, Lebanon, PA 17042.
