Butler, 96, went to be with the Lord she served her entire life on Thursday, November 26, 2009, at Manor Care, Carlisle. She was the widow of Rev Dr. Carl S. Butler, who passed away on January 15, 1983. She was preceded in death by a son, Sherwood J. Butler, on November 12, 2009. Lillian was a member of Calvary Assembly of God. Along with her husband, she was co-founder of the former Sherwood Hall, a home for the mentally challenged in E. Hanover Twp., Lebanon Co., and was a missionary in India for 20 years. Surviving are a daughter, Carla D. Strauss, two granddaughters, Bonnie Donmoyer and Connie Burchett, and a greatgranddaughter, Courtney Donmoyer, all of Linglestown; three sisters, Betty Brown of Phoenix, Ariz., Grace Clark of Rochester, N.Y., and Esther Bowsher of Largo, Fla.; and a brother, Henry Sharples of Greensboro, N.C. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 1, at 11 a.m. at Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 6011 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. The Rev. Thomas Budzowski will officiate. Burial will be in Lemberger's Cemetery, Grantville. There will be a viewing at the funeral home Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 10:30 a.m. until time of services.
