"Tony" Anthony "Tony" A. DeLuca, 86, of Myerstown died Thursday, February 12, 2009, in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the devoted husband of Ofelia R. DeLuca. Born and raised in Myerstown, Pa., he was the son of Vincenzo and Giovanna DeLuca. Tony was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, wherein he was enlisted in the 102nd Infantry Division. He was a retired foreman/crane operator for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, in which he was employed for over 30 years. Tony was known for his strong work ethic before and after retirement. More recently, commencing in 1993, he initiated his "second career" by becoming gainfully employed within the housekeeping department at the Good Samaritan Hospital, and worked there up until December 2008. This was a job in which he thoroughly enjoyed, and Tony was recently honored for achieving 15 years of service . Tony was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Myerstown VFW, as well as his place of worship - Mary Gate of Heaven Church. His passions included a love of gardening, socializing, and attending/watching football and baseball games. Surviving are a daughter, Melanie, wife of Alan Hepburn of Etters, Pa. His one- and-only granddaughter, Alexis, was his pride and joy. Also surviving are four sisters, Nunsie Marcozzi, Josephine Annabali, Philomena Novak and Mary, wife of Victor Flamini. Tony was preceded in death by a brother, Fred DeLuca. Funeral Mass Tuesday, February 17th, at 11 a.m. from Mary Gate of Heaven Church, 188 West McKinley Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067. Viewing hours Tuesday morning from 10- 11 at the church. Interment at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Lebanon, on Thursday, February 19th, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary Gate of Heaven Church.
