She was born on April 26, 1920, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late John L. and Isabel Kerber Horgan, and the wife of the late George A. Doyle Sr., who died February 11, 1993. Muriel was an adult education art teacher and Art Museum tour guide in New York City. She was a member of the Fernandina Beach, Florida Art Association, the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manhasset, N.Y., and the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Fernandina Beach, Fla. She attended the Church of the Holy Spirit in Palmyra for the past 18 years. She enjoyed being with her family, painting, reading and traveling abroad with her husband, playing Bridge and golf. She volunteered with the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts and many church and social committees throughout her life time. A meal was always prepared and delivered at a moment's notice to anyone in need for a new baby, a new neighbor or for the loss of a loved one. Surviving her are a son, George A. Doyle Jr. of Manhasset, N.Y., a daughter, Muriel D., wife of Joseph Farrell of Palmyra, Pa., a daughter, Ann D., wife of William R. Kunovic of Libertyville, Ill., and a son, John L., husband of Annie Doyle of Worchester, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Ross of Columbia, Mo.; eight nieces and nephews. Her brother, John L. Horgan Jr., preceded her in death. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of viewing on Saturday, March 7, 2009, from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the Rothermel Funeral Home Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial service at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 W. Pine St., Palmyra, with Father James Podlesny, OSB, officiating. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Church of the Holy Spirit 245 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
