Duffy PALMYRA Shirley R.Duffy, 84, passed away in the presence of her children, Lynn and Bill, on October 26, 2009. She lived independently as a resident of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home in Palmyra. Shirley was the widow of James Duffy who passed away in 2007. She is survived by her children; her daughter-in-law, Teri; and two grandchildren (Luke and Katie Duffy); and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was the daughter of Victor and Edythe Ritter, and was raised in East Greenville. Jim and Shirley married on August 27, 1949 , and were together for more than 57 years. Shirley attended Grove City College and graduated from Cedar Crest College. She worked as an executive assistant for many years, but her priority was family. Shirley was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Palmyra. Shirley loved life, her family and friends, and was a proud customer of Annie's Ice Cream, a trait she has passed onto her grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the DiMatteo Chapel at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home on Friday, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Shirley by sending contributions to the Good Samaritan Fund at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
