M. shabodeho@aol.com November 17, 2009, 9:52 pm Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 11/1/2009 Gearhart, Kathleen Kathleen Gearhart PALMYRA Kathleen Kennedy Gearhart passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009, at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra. She was born December 28, 1914, in Chestnut Hill, to the late Beatrice Marie (Farrell) and Thomas F. Kennedy, Sr. Kathleen formerly lived in Pottstown, Pleasant Hills and Lebanon. While a member of Assumption BVM Parish, Lebanon, she attended daily Mass, was a member of the Rosary Group and the Council of Catholic Women. Kathleen was currently a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, Elizabethtown. Kathleen cherished family times. She loved children and the laughter they shared. Always witty, she had a keen sense of humor. Kathleen loved reading, especially poetry and wrote beautiful letters. A lover of flowers, she belonged to various garden clubs over the years. Outgoing and friendly, Kathleen enjoyed new places and talking with everyone she met. She was a devoted and loyal friend to many. Kathleen was a devoted wife and mother. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 60 years, Samuel W. Gearhart, Jr.; daughter, Barbara (James) Koralewski, Toledo, Ohio; son, Samuel (Cathy) Gearhart, Stockton, Calif.; son, David (Robin) Gearhart, Finleyville and daughter, Christine (Robert) Kido of Palmyra. Kathleen has 13 loving grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Beloved son, Thomas Mark Gearhart; brother, Thomas F. Kennedy, Jr.; and sister, Mary K. McDonald, preceded her in death. Friends and family may visit at the Buse Funeral Home, 145 N. Grant St., Palmyra on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 12 to 1 p.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church, 1840 Marshall Dr., Elizabethtown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Interment will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Pottstown. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, especially for the compassionate care given to Kathleen at Castagna House. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. Peters Historic Church Preservation Fund; 1840 Marshall Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022; or the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home- Greenhouses, 1200 Grubb St., Palmyra, PA 17078.
