'Bill' Girvin, 73, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009, in the Hospice Unit of the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Elizabeth Audrey (Hoffman) Girvin, with whom he celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on July 19, 2009. He was born January 2, 1936, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Patrick and Ann (Wansick) Girvin. He was the youngest of 10 children. After his parents passed away, he was raised by his sister, Sissy Nestor along with his niece, Connie Nestor Bayer and his nephews, Patrick and Joseph Nestor, all of Pittsburgh. William was a veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by the U.S. Government Department of Defense for 41 years. He worked at the Nike Missile Sites surrounding Pittsburgh, area until 1974. He was then transferred to the Flight Facility at Fort Indiantown Gap where he was an electronics supervisor for helicopters until his retirement in 1992. As a member of the Regular Army and the PA National Guard, he completed 41 years, 1 month and 29 days of service. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his children, Colleen A. Novak, and her husband, Michael of Lebanon, Timothy P. Girvin and his wife, Carey of Lebanon and Leah E. Fay and her husband, Mark of Pfafftown, N.C.; grandsons, Michael Novak, Jason Girvin, Tyler Girvin, Luke and Hunter Delnoce; granddaughters, Katie and Emily Novak, Melissa Girvin, Jennifer Girvin and Reily and Delaney Fay; five great- granddaughters; three sisters, Marie Baranowski, Clare Harby and Dolly Girvin, all of Pittsburgh; one brother, James, also of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews in the Pittsburgh area. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence W. Girvin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, Rt. 22, Jonestown. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the Chapel. Interment with full military honors will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown. In Bill's memory, please make someone laugh today.
