  Verna K. Gress, 91, of Newmanstown died Thursday, February 5, 2009, in ECC 
  Retirement Village, StoneRidge Campus, Myerstown, Pa. She was the wife of the 
  late Miles B. Gress, with who she was married to for 63 years. She was born 
  August 15, 1917, in Millcreek Township, Lebanon County, daughter of the late 
  Paul M. and Annie M. Sonnen. She was employed by the High School Food Service 
  Group for 20 years. Verna was a member of the Elias United Church of Christ in 
  Newmanstown, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a Girl Scout leader. 
  After her family, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, herbs and creating and 
  cultivating friendship. Surviving are children Mary Ann Zimmerman of 
  Newmanstown, Martha Louise Weiman of Harrisburg, Paul W., husband of Carol 
  Gress of Bay Village, Ohio; grandchildren Dawn Weiman, Robert, husband of 
  Rebekah Weiman, Sarah, wife of Matthew Orlousky, Aaron Gress; and four great-
  grandchildren. She has been preceded in death by her brother, Glenn M. Sonnen; 
  and is survived by her sister, Edith M. Handley of Ephrata. Funeral service 
  will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Elias United Church of Christ, North Sheridan 
  Road, Newmanstown, with a viewing beginning Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Internment will 
  be in the Millbach Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to 
  the Elias UCC, PO Box 265, Newmanstown, PA 17073. Clauser Funeral Home Inc. is 
  handling the arrangements.
