Lola G. Groff, 67, affectionately known to her family as "DawDaw," died Tuesday January 6, 2009 in the Hershey Medical Center after a long illness. She was the wife of Ernest F. Groff, Sr., with whom she would have celebrated a 45th wedding anniversary in August. She was born in Lebanon on February 17, 1941 a daughter of the late William J. and Nora Bowman Shartle. She was a graduate of Lebanon High School class of 1959. She was a hairdresser for many years working from her home and later at Cornwall Manor. She had also worked for Tarmac, Lebanon Valley Enterprises, Palmyra Interfaith Manor as a resident manager; and retired from Poplar Terrace as an administrative assistant. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Lebanon and was a member of the Cosmetology Association and The Lebanon Business Women where she had been named a woman of the month. In addition to her husband she is survived by children: Lynnea wife of John Holler, Landisville; Loretta wife of Greg Hurley, Big Timbers, MY; Ernest F. Groff, Jr., West Lawn; grandchildren: Graham Holler, Charlie Hurley, Cole Groff; brothers: William "Jess" Shartle, Lebanon; Lester Shartle, Myerstown; Paul Shartle, Fredericksburg; Ernest Shartle, Tunkhannock; sisters: Lula Weik, Lebanon; Verna Ebright, Myerstown; Pauline Sattazahn, Lebanon; also numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother: Harrison Shartle; sisters: Nora Boyer Rudy, Ruth Royer, Dorothy Shartle. Funeral services will be Thursday 11:00 A.M. in the Rohland Funeral Home, 5th & Cumberland Sts., Lebanon. Interment will be made in Kimmerling's Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday from 10:00 A.M. to the time of service in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church, 1300 Maple St., Lebanon, PA 17046 or to the Ronald McDonald House, 745 W. Governor Rd., Hershey, PA 17033.
