Richard E. Haller, 72, of Lititz, went home to be with his Lord on June 28, 2009, at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family following a recent diagnosis of cancer. He was born in Lebanon, a son of the late Erhard and Mabel (Brownsberger) Haller. He was married 53 years on November 5th to Irene (Boll) Haller. Richard was an active member of Hammer Creek Mennonite Church, spent his winters in Sarasota, FL, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also was a member of the founding board of the Lititz Area Mennonite School. Founder and owner of Haller Electric from 1963 to 1974, he also operated as a Surge Dairy Dealership. He owned a poultry farm from 1974 to 1989, and was a partner in Haller Enterprises from 1981 to 1986. He was currently a partner in Haller Builders, a company he founded in 1986. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Carol L., wife of Elvin Hurst of Lititz, J. Richard, husband of Joyce (Hollinger) Haller of Leola, Kenneth R., husband of Diane (Horning) Haller of Schaefferstown, Kevin R., husband of Yvonne (Martin) Haller of Ephrata, and Crystal J., wife of Arlan Hoover of Reinholds; twelve grandchildren, Zachary Hurst, Austin, Addison and Aubrey Haller, Janessa (Haller), wife of Curtis Zimmerman, Janae (Haller), wife of Michael Eberly, Jaden Haller, Brock, Bridget, and Bronson Haller, Megan and Brandon Hoover; and sister, Helen, wife of Eugene Boll of Manheim, and brothers, Robert, husband of Mildred Haller of Ephrata, Roy, husband of Mary Jane Haller of Ephrata, and John, husband of Gladys Haller of Lititz. A viewing will be held from 5 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, July 1st, and 1 to 2 P.M., Thursday, July 2nd, at Hammer Creek Mennonite Church, 590 Hammer Creek Road, Lititz, with the funeral service at 2 P.M. with Pastor Fred Heller officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Memorial contributions in Richard's memory may be sent to Hammer Creek Mennonite Church Mission Fund, 590 Hammer Creek Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
