Jack L. Harter, 74, of 11 Endress Road, Lebanon, died Thursday, February 5, 2009, in the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born November 8, 1934, in Lebanon, son of the late James Donald Harter and Charlotte Elizabeth Zimmerman Harter Reese. He was a member of Lebanon Church of the Brethren. He had worked at Cleaver-Brooks as an engineer liason, and gave numerous tours of the plant. He then was manager of the Radio Shack, where he earned the Leader's Club Award and an impressive Gold Diamond Ring for his efforts. He was a member of the Lebanon Jaycees, where he served as president and regional vice president. He received the Outstanding Director Award in 1966, James W. Ladd III Outstanding Vice President Award in 1967, Donley J. Parr Outstanding Jaycee Award in 1969, and recipient of the Jaycee International Senator Award, the highest that a chapter can bestoy on a member. He was an avid Penn State football fan, and member of the Nittany Lions Club. He was a life member of the Lebanon Valley Senior Center, served on their board of directors, an active volunteer, and enjoyed shuffleboard, pool and golf. Surviving are his wife, Janet D. Brightbill Harter of Lebanon; son Joel Harter of Lebanon; and daughter Jonelle Harter Eshbach, spouse of David Eshbach of York; brother James Harter of Lebanon; and five grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, 2009, from 10-11 a.m. at Lebanon Church of the Brethren, 400 Locust Street, Lebanon, followed by services at 11 a.m. No viewing Burial will be at Grand View Memorial Park.
