Jean Hartman, 73, died Sunday, September 27, 2009, in her residence. She was the wife of James W. Hartman, with whom she celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past May. Born in Coshocton, Ohio, on January 25, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Gertrude I. Reed Ruhl. She was retired from working in the kitchen at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Jean was a 1954 graduate of Annville High School, a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ, Annville, and was active with the Friends for Hope Relay For Life Team. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Steven J., husband of Shelly Hartman of Harrisburg, and David L. Hartman of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Julie Ann, wife of Kevin McCarthy of Leonardtown, Md., and Vicki L. Hartman of Lebanon; and five grandchildren, Erin and Bryan McCarthy, Chelsea and Allison Hartman, and Alex Hartman. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Adams and Joyce Reber. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Christ Church, 200 S. White Oak St., Annville, PA 17003. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christ Church Senior Choir at the address above; or the Friends for Hope Relay For Life Team c/o Mary Graybill, 1409 Louser Road, Annville, PA 17003. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville, is in charge of arrangements.
