(Hal) Harold (Hal) V. Heisey Memorial services for Hal Heisey, 79, who died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center were held Wednesday, July 15th, 2009, at the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren near Adel, IA, of which he was a member. Hal grew up on a farm near Myerstown, PA, the son of Nathan and Ada Heisey. He graduated from Newmanstown High School and went on to graduate from McPherson College and Drake University with a Masters Degree. He was united in marriage to Elinor Stine on June 14, 1952 in Adel. After teaching and coaching for 12 years at S.E. Warren and Indianola, he built and opened Indianola Lanes Bowling Alley in Indianola, IA. He later went on to build many homes and renovate commercial and residential properties. Hal also helped his two daughters open their businesses, including Wicker and the Works in Valley Junction. Hal and Ellie enjoyed spending winters in their home in Arizona. Hal loved the lake retreat which he built near Indianola, and sharing times there with family and friends. Hal was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mark and Warren Heisey. Survivors include his wife, Elinor; daughters, Victoria (Mark) Veiock of West Des Moines, and Kayla (Cliff) Stroh of Clive; and five grandchildren: Vanessa and Valerie Veiock, and Tyler, Hannah, and Leah Stroh. He is also survived by brothers Adam Heisey of Lenhartsville, PA, Paul (Dorothy) Heisey of Denver, PA, and a sister, Ruth Ann (Bill) Cain of Pottstown, PA. Visitation, with family present, was held Monday, July 13 at Overton Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren.
