Shirley A. Henry, 72, of Landisville passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, February 16, 2009, at Hospice of Lancaster County Mount Joy Facility. She was the wife of Barry L. Henry, to whom she was married for 50 years. She was born in Quentin, the daughter of the late Miriam Gettle Galebach and the late John Galebach. After graduating from Cornwall High School, Lebanon County, in 1953, she worked as secretary to the personnel manager at the former Raybestos Manhattan Plant in Manheim for eight years. She served as president of the Manheim Jaycee Jaynes in 1962-63. As her daughters grew up, she was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. For many years she helped prepare the meals for the Meals On Wheels Program in East Hempfield Township area. As a faithful member of The Church of God of Landisville, she helped prepare the meals for the Meals For The Homeless Program. Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Anne M., wife of Steven Burridge of Ephrata, Jill C., wife of Eric Schopf of Stewartstown, Lynne R. of Mount Joy; a sister, Kathryn, wife of Donald Reigle of Annville; a brother, Robert, husband of Ginni Galebach of Lebanon. A pride and joy in her life were her seven grandchildren, David Jason Kendig, Joshua Kendig, Alana Kendig, Shane Burridge, Amanda Burridge, Kristin Schopf, and Lance Schopf. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Galebach. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. The service will be held at The Church of God of Landisville, 171 Church Street, Landisville, Pa., with Pastor Stephen Dunn officiating, assisted by Pastor Barry Sellers. A reception will be held in the MPR Room at the church after the service, at which time friends may greet the family. Interment will be private, and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, gifts of remembrance of Shirley's life may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125; or The Salvation Army, 131 South Queen Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. The Buch Funeral Home, Manheim, is in charge of the arrangements.
