Hetrick PALMYRA Sara Kathryn (Kendig) Hetrick, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 24, 2009. She was the widow of James W. Hetrick, to whom she was married 52 years. She was born Tuesday, May 22, 1923, in Lebanon County, to the late Mary A. (Henry) and John W. Kendig. Sara was preceded in death by an infant son, Barry Lee; a son, Jerel T.; and a brother, Harold H. Kendig. Sara is survived by a son, James H. Hetrick and wife, Susan of Mechanicsburg, and their two children, Emily of Mechanicsburg, and Kyle and wife, Cara of San Diego, Calif.; Jerel's son, Jarrad L. of Hummelstown; a daughter-in-law, Catherine Whitsel of Wrightsville; a sister-in- law, Veronica Kendig of Palmyra; several cousins, including Albert "Buddy" Henry of Palmyra; and her faithful canine companion, Abby. Sara was a member of the Hershey High School Class of 1941. She was part owner of the former Hetrick & Fair Grocery in Palmyra and was a retired Hershey Chocolate Corp. employee, Tin Can Division. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the First Evangelical Congregational Church. She enjoyed traveling with family and tending to her flower garden. Her most cherished role was that of caregiver to any family member in need. She will be missed by all who loved her. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, with the Rev. Jan R. Fryer officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in Hershey Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, P.O.
